Hello, My name is Sahar
and I have been mesmerized by belly dancing for about nine years now.
I first started with Gypsy Fire of Tulsa and focused on Tribal Style.
Eventually, I moved onward and with sister dancers opened
Belly Dancing has taken me on
many mystical and magical paths. I
have studied with various instructors across the nation.
I have traveled to Portland, Oregon to study with The Gypsy Caravan,
to Los Angela’s California where I got to hang out with the Belly Dance
Super Stars and Miles Copeland at The Carnival of Cairo, Dallas and
San Antonio, Texas. My most
favorite trip so far was studying with Karen Barbie, and then performing on
a Carnival Cruise while heading for
People ask me frequently how I
became interested in belly dancing. That
question stumps me every time. Honestly,
I think I must have been born with rocking and swaying in my blood, as my
mother was a swing dance instructor throughout her youth and adulthood.
However, I started graduate school and belly dancing at the same time
and fell in love with both. As a
result, the two became intertwined and much of my graduate studies were then
focused on Cultural and Women’s Studies.
It was through my studies that I learned how important this dance has
been to the existence of women throughout our history and how nourishing it
is to the spirit.

Mostly though I hope my greatest contribution is to express through my dance and the smile I wear, that this dance is important and one that belongs to women.
